Portable DAT unit with power supply for parts, playback has distortion. Parts Machine, Low Use, Unknown problem, complete intact.
A number of people have contacted us looking for the battery to these units. At this point, most used batteries left over in storage may be bad. Lead acid batteries, if kept under consistent charge, will go bad or have poor operating life. The power supplies are obviously special and retain the most value and demand. We do have the power supply for $60. For $80 we also have some of these complete machines, in good condition but in need of service (usually to repair either the head preamp or the servo circuit system -- both of these circuits are notorious for developing problems with bad capacitors). The repairs would probably cost about $200. These units are in good shape, but were abandoned to us by customers who simply did not want to go ahead with the repairs needed. But really, they are a bargain for a technically minded person who can put a little TLC into them. We repair the Panasonic SV3700, 3800 (which are the best), and some Sony DATs (R500, etc). The Fostex, Tascam DA30 MKII and Pioneers are serviceable too with parts available. No repairs can be done to Sony TCD8s or Panasonic SV255 as crucial parts are no longer available.
