This is a metal arm to plastic platform with all springs and felt. This is the standard design. #7 condition. The rubber tire is required is our listing # 48209 Sorry but we recently sold the part. There's a lot of requests for this part and we may have another one available in the future. We have ways to fix or adapt another part. The cassette deck is getting old now and will have other issues, such as 2 of the mechanical cycling motors appear to be intermitant or non-functional. The aging of deck mechanism now requires a few modifications to make it reliable. We repair and update, calibrate and do modifications to make the machine reliable and seldom replace the motors. There's a service trick to accomplish this. Most people send the unit in. Right now, we have idler assemblies only for in shop service fixes. Typical repair is $200 and usually includes return shipping. Nakamichi did not make this complete machine. The transport is cybernet and is very good. But the installation of this transport is slightly incorrect and not sufficiently aligned in place to allow perfect calibration of head. We have been fixing this stuff for 30 years.

All motors are tested for torque and oiled where required. We have prepared years ago to find and salvage parts to help repair nice older equipment. If you have a motor number not listed, show us a nice clear picture and direction of spin. You may also be required to swap your motor pulley. Plastic pulleys slide right off and back on to the new motor. Metal pulleys may require a hot soldering iron on axle to melt glue, then pull off metal pulley and install on axle at same height. Very simple job to do. (some motors are now supplied with the correct little screws to mount our substitute motor (which looks & works the same) but has different screw hole spacing into the existing Nakamichi motor frame which the motor mounts to.
