These are well made Japanese machines; very recommended if you want the switching and equalization of analog circuitry. These units have a slightly "tube-a-phonic" sound; robust but slightly "veiled". This character is partly due to many single-ended design transistor circuits which cause .1% THD of the 2nd harmonic distortion. Amplifiers of this kind have a medium dampening factor of 50 to 150 which translates into slightly thicker speaker bass (use heavy gauge wire).
Of course, specs can vary a little with dynamics and wattage levels. Truth is: the sound character is dominated by your speaker. The more complex the crossover circuit and how well the bass cab is tuned will contribute more to the distortion and effects than the amp itself.
The main reason to want these amps is they are healthy and repairable by design, very functional and user friendly, and they incorporate equalization which just sounds right on much program material. If the machine is made well it won't really matter about +/- 10 watts or .05 or even .2% distortion. The dominating factor of spatial detail and fidelity is really the music source (how it was recorded). The weakness in these amps may be the phono preamp section which is better done in modern separates.
